CapSource

We source free student consultants eager to work through real company projects for course credit
1. We partner with some of the most innovative companies interested in collaborating with higher-ed.

2. We connect you to MBAs and students pursuing other advanced degrees that need work experience.

3. We learn more about your organization and identify areas where students can be helpful.

3. We scope out engaging, intricate, and organizaed projects based on your firm.

4. Those projects are approved by you and matched with school programs based on their needs.

5. The most interested and qualified students are paired with your project for the term.

6. Students earn course credit while working on your project under faculty mentorship.

7. You meet with students bi-weekly to ensure they're on track and continuing to deliver value.

8. You receive a final report and presentation based on the work they have done

What do we need from you?

DISCOVERY
First, let's learn more about you, your business, and your team. We'll also get you up-to-speed on how CapSource Consulting engagements work. If you're interested in working with us, we'll begin by helping you gain approval for the program at your firm.

PROJECT COMMITMENT & SCOPING
Once we gain your project commitment, we'll need to meet to discuss your company and your challenges in more depth. The goal of these scoping meetings is to help you identify a project that would be appropriate for the level of student you're looking to work with.

PROJECT RUNNING
Once you approve the Project Brief, we'll match your project with an academic program looking to place their students at companies like yours. The projects typically run one semester (~3 months) and require bi-weekly meetings/web conferences to ensure the students are on track.

FEEDBACK & DEBRIEF
Since this is designed to be a learning experience for the students, the more feedback for them, the better. We also find it important to de-brief with all of our Project Company Partners to learn more about how we can improve your student collaboration experience for the future.

What else do I need to know?

LEGAL & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The beauty of these projects is that they're set up for student learning, but organized to benefit companies greatly.

NDAs
  • All students and faculty participating are required to sign NDAs before gaining access to any of your materials.

Intellectual Property Ownership
  • Since the students are working on a project at your company, you own all the intellectual property that they develop outright.

Special Legal Documents
  • Students can sign special legal documents provided by you if accepted by the school (i.e., consulting, part-time employee, contractor agreements...etc.)

TIME COMMITMENT
In most cases, you can compare these engagements to working with a consulting firm. Their performance is based exclusively on your investment of time and cooperation.

Students will be contributing roughly 100-200 hours each in groups of 3-6. This means you should expect about 300-1200 total hours of FREE LABOR depending on academic program and project scope.

We expect companies to designate a Project Champion to meet with students bi-weekly in a forum that makes the most sense per the engagement.

We also expect you to be timely in responding to student communications and requests.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
These engagements are designed to put student learning and student outcomes above all else. This is the main reason why we're able to keep these engagements free for the Project Companies.

We greatly appreciate your willingness to participate in a program designed to develop students into real business professionals.

Each project is accompanied by a standardized Rules of Engagement. This document is prepared to help establish groundrules and expectations between the academic program, its faculty, the students, CapSource, and our software parter, EduSourced.
